What is the best way to get my shi tzu puppies to walk on a leash?

There are about 14 weeks, and are doing their sits, downs, and stays. They are almost completely housetrained. However, I'm going through a terrible time getting them to walk with me. I have to take them out one at a time. My daughter has tried to train the puppy to heel on her own because she wants to show in 4H. How long does it normally to teach them to walk on a leash?

Correction: Shih Tzu (: I would suggest you buy a belt for the puppies, since they will be pulling a lot. Since the pressure on the neck might hurt them. Training to walk on a leash could be difficult, especially because you are stating that you have more than one puppy. I would take them individually to form one by one at a time, away from distractions possible. It took me about 2 weeks to get my year old neighbor 3 Yorkshire Terrier to walk well on a leash … but believe me, it's worth it! Then Again, depends on the dog, some have the desire to please, and some do not. Fortuately, my neighbor did Yorkshire Terrier! Good luck!
