Missing, damaged or invalid Boot.ini file may cause data loss in Windows

To resolve this problem, boot from CD boot Windows XP, start Recovery Console, and then use utility Bootcfg.exe to rebuild the Boot.ini file. Follow the instructions below to do this:

Boot from the Windows XP CD.

Get into Recovery Console by pressing R when you receive "Setup" message.

Type the administrator password when prompted and press Enter.

Type bootcfg / list and press the Enter key.

Type bootcfg / rebuild and press Enter.

Close the Recovery Console and reboot the system.
